$1 Final Clearance Sale/ Move
$1 Final Clearance Sale/ Move
Friday (jan 22) will be our last day open at our old location (1720 e. 12th) before we move Saturday. Come as early as you can for the best deals, everything we've got in the store will be just a buck! Clear us out so we can open the new location next week with all new merchandise.
Want to help us move? If you're not a heavy lifter, how about helping us feed the crew? We will have about 25 people working hard all day saturday and they will be so much happier and healthier if they're fed. We've already had some really lovely volunteers offer breakfast tacos, but we are still looking for:
coffee, milk, sugar at 9
lunch between 12 and 1
snacks mid morning and midafternoon
If you can bring something by to help take care of Treasure City volunteers, please contact cory@treasurecitythrift.org with your info and phone number.
And to help move stuff just show up at the store -we'll get started at 9am.
Thanks so much for supporting Treasure City in aiding grassroots organization, building community, and reducing waste. We couldn't do it without you!
january news: we're moving!
WE’RE MOVING!! * SALES ALL MONTH * twitter, facebook, myspace* FREE MARKET *
WE’RE MOVING!!! (DOWN THE STREET)
At the end of January, Treasure City will be moving a few blocks down the street to 2943 E. 12th, which is two blocks west of Airport, opposite Harvey St.
The new space has great climate control, a public bathroom, parking and lots of outside space for events. We’ll have a bus stop right out front and a taqueria across the street. We are super excited to be working in a nice environment, and hope you will enjoy shopping there and volunteering with us in much greater comfort.
How are we gonna get a store full of stuff to our new location you ask? Only with your help. Most of the moving will happen the weekend of Jan 23. If you can lend us a hand, please send email including your phone number to cory@treasurecitythrift.org. In addition to people power, we’re also looking for vehicles, dollies, and folks to provide coffee, breakfast, lunch or snacks for the volunteers. Can you help out with any of those?
SALES ALL MONTH
We’ll have sales the entire month of January to prepare for the move, so stay tuned for details. We’ll send them out our email list right before they happen, so if you're not on it, subscribe.
FIND US ON THE INTERWEB. AND NOW YOUR PHONE TOO.
Yup, that’s right. Treasure City has joined the twitter generation. Follow us @thriftyaustin to get event info, special volunteer opportunities, and tweet-only special sales.
You can also join our facebook group (login and search for us) and friend us on myspace (myspace.com/treasurecitythrift). And of course, spend some time with us at www.treasurecitythrift.org to learn all about what we we do and the organizations we support.

HOLIDAY CRAFTS
Treasure City is working with Greater Austin Garage Arts on a reuse event next Sunday, December 13th. There will be holiday craft workshops, a regifting swap, local reuse artists selling gifts, and music by Night Viking. More info here www.treasurecitythrift.org/holidayswap. If you’d like to do an hour volunteer shift and get in free, email cory@treasurecitythrift.org.
WINTER CLOTHES
We’ve been saving high quality winter coats, sweaters, scarves and hats all year long and they’re out on the racks now. Coats start at $7, all sweaters are $4, accessories are $2. Come get your warm on quick, when you’ve got the best selection to choose from.
DECORATIONS for DECEMBER
We’ve got several displays around the store of evergreen-y decorations, accessories, dishes, knick knacks, cookie cutters and other stuff you don’t need but really would enjoy. Why not buck the tradition of capitalist waste (but enjoy the nostalgia of santa and such, if that’s your thing) by celebrating a holiday of reuse? Most of this stuff has been gifted or used once or less, and is in great shape.
PHOTO GALLERY
There’s a new ‘Photos’ link at the top of our web page, it’ll take you to a gallery of photos documenting our 3 crazy years in business (everything from our humble beginnings as a shell of a dry cleaners to store events, unusual donations, fires that burned our building, and cute volunteers). We’re adding more regularly, if you have any photos you’d like to share, email them to youractionsdefineyou@gmail.com.
and new staffers…
we’ve got a very very tiny one staffing the store these days, like 5 weeks tiny. Come by and meet him quick before he turns into a boring grownup like the rest of us! And If you want to join him in volunteering, stop by the store or www.treasurecitythrift.org/volunteer
