About Treasure City Thrift

Treasure City is a zero-waste worker-run thrift store at 2142 E. 7th St. in East Austin. The consensus-based collective of this 16 year economic experiment cultivates and nurtures solidarity with local grassroots and social justice groups and makes goods accessible to all people.

Treasure City is horizontally-run; there are no bosses here. The staff works closely with each other and are jointly responsible for maintaining the store, the collective, the organization, and furthering our mission. We operate by consensus and strive to create a workplace where everyone’s time and labor is valued, respected and honored. We share the hard work, the fun stuff, and the POWER✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼

Our mission:

To make goods accessible to all people and engage in solidarity with local grassroots groups working for radical social change.

Treasure City is looking for a new collective member! This is a part-time position for 20 hours per week.

The work is retail and materials processing; assisting customers, sorting incoming and outgoing donations, creating and maintaining displays and storage, sales and special events, promotion, and solidarity work with the groups we support.

After an apprenticeship of six months, the position could include administrative duties like bookkeeping, communication, organizational planning, etc.

We are accepting applications on a rolling basis until our collective needs are met.

People of Color, queer folks, historically marginalized folks, and radically-minded individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.
